The Bethedsa & Cyfartha bridges provide vehicle access cross the river Taff in Merthyr Tydfil. After media blasting and repainting of the present bridge railing structures, a new stainless steel guardrail system was mounted on top of the existing parapet posts.

Discreet LED sources with in the new rail provide a low level of marker lighting; giving an enhanced feeling of safety and well being at night, without causing distraction to drivers of vehicles using the bridges.

Luminaires are located in the polished stainless steel rail system by stainless steel mounting springs and anti-tamper secure fixings. When fitted, the profiled polycarbonate cover of the luminaire sits near flush with the rail section following the same profile as the rail.

Luminaires operate on a low voltage DC system ensuring an extra safe installation. In addition every luminaire utilises smart IC technology to compensate for system volt drop, thus ensuring the optimum operating conditions. Power is supplied by AC/DC power supplies mounted in feeder pillars located at one end of each bridge.

The complete project was installed and commissioned by Chromatica's installation team.
