Based in the historic market town of Lewes, the new £2,000,000 County Public Library boasts a dynamic installation of LED marker lights, flowing out from the buildings entrance down the building steps.

In junction with the lighting artist, Chromatica designed bespoke luminaires, which were mounted into the cast concrete steps exiting the library. During the installation process Chromatica worked with the manufacturer of the steps to install the necessary cabling harnesses, which would allow control of the 165 individual luminaires in this unique installation.

After installation Chromatica translated the lighting artists concepts and programmed the system to provide a dynamic light effect, designed to simulate glassy sheets of water traversing a weir. Visible from the street below the animated artwork suggests movement and directs visitors to the Entrance.
